Building for Construction Sites
With the lockdown looking likely to ease over the coming weeks, construction site managers are looking at ways to ensure staff can return back to work and adhere to social distancing rules.
In a normal environment, spaces for canteens and general welfare areas may well have been created using large portacabins or modular buildings. Ensuring that staff, contractors and all personnel are able to adhere to the social distancing is posing a challenge.
Large temporary buildings may well need to replace the mainstay of the industry, that of the portacabin. Where a portacabin may well have comfortably fitted 16 staff, that could now be down to just 6. And with some of the smaller buildings, it may not even be possible to social distance in a cabin that is 2.8m x 3.5m.
Some of the most simple tasks that could have been done in a close contact environment, such as daily briefings, conferences and general meetings now can’t effectively happen in this age of Covid-19 using the traditional spaces.
What the Coronavirus has meant to our daily lives is that more space is going to be needed. Where meetings may have occurred in much smaller areas, or even outside (weather permitting), this isn’t practical or now possible.
Temporary tent buildings can provide a viable option for us to safely go about our daily working lives, whilst still maintaining social distancing.
Structures for construction sites are available to hire on a short or long term basis, allowing staff to return to work in a safe environment whilst adhering to what has become the obligatory 2-metre social distancing rule.
As an example, in the days of pre-covid a canteen on a building site may have measured 12m x 15m. This canteen would have comfortably seated 100 staff and contractors. Now that same structure will only seat 20 staff.
With major building projects beginning to start up again, such as HS2, CrossRail and other significant construction sites, the need for temporary building rental may well be greater than ever.
The beauty of the temporary structure is that it can be installed very quickly, usually within 24 to 48 hours and it can be of the size that suits your needs. These temporary building structures come in a complete range of sizes, small or large. So if you have a certain size that needs to be filled, there is a strong likelihood we’ll be able to recommend a structure to suit you. And it’s not just the length and width of the structure that can vary, the height too. Our standard range is 2.3m to 4m at the eave, although taller structures are also available too.
So if your temporary building is for personnel purposes, then the standard 2.3m eave height is adequate, but if you need to get plant, or other such taller equipment within the building, this is also possible.
When you do hire a temporary building, the structure can also be heated and insulated so all year round use is still possible. Or these temporary buildings can be installed with no walling at all. And for access, lockable doors can be fitted, or for larger machinery roller shutters can also be installed.
